For much of my life I lived in Hawaii and worked in the real estate business. One evening my wife and I were talking and she mentioned that she wanted to move back home, life just seemed too hectic in Honolulu, Hawaii and I was ready for a change as well. I wanted to quit my job and enjoy my life in a beautiful place away from the busy world. Little did we know this was the beginning of a great adventure. It’s funny how something can trigger a defining moment in your life and everything changes.

We moved to Long Island in the Bahamas, the island where my wife was born. This beautiful place is located in the south central Bahamas, a place that has not been destroyed by high rise hotels and resorts. Long Island has a tropical maritime climate which makes for generally year-round good weather. The lifestyle here on Long Island is amazing. You see, the Bahamian people here still live the old way, they farm and fish for a living. The ocean is teaming with life. Divers leave early in the morning as the sun is rising and they return at dusk after collecting fresh lobster and fish from the pristine reefs offshore. They sell their catch right from the boat and nothing tastes better than seafood cooked on the grill with a glass of wine. People here are very friendly. It is a custom to stop on the road and ask if you need help when someone has a flat tire or car trouble. Everyone waves to each other when passing on the road. The feeling is one big neighborhood where everyone knows each other. There are sheep and goats running wild along the roadway so one needs to be careful not to “knock them down”. Mangoes and other fruit trees hang from the trees and local farmers grow corn, okra, tomatoes and many other vegetables to add to your island meals.

I worked for a few years as a commercial fisherman, living at sea for a week at a time learning the ways from my wife’s family. After a while I decided to get back into the real estate business and bring my expertise from Hawaii to the Bahamas. I started selling land and homes here on Long Island and now 17 years later I’m meeting people from Europe and all over the world who want to experience something new and want to live in a tropical paradise.

Some time ago, I started thinking that I would set up a place to live here on the island for people that want to enjoy the ocean, diving, fishing and exploring the beauty of this place so I created Line Bay. This property sits high on a hill overlooking the ocean and down below at the shoreline is a beautiful 3 acre beachfront with thatched island cabanas. These beautiful ocean view parcels are located close to Salt Pond Settlement. Salt Pond is a very special location in fact one of the most requested locations on Long Island. These parcels have a common access to a beach right across the street. There is also a boat ramp nearby to launch your boat and a beautiful harbor to enjoy snorkeling and fishing directly in front of this property. The Long Island sailing regatta is held in this neighborhood making this an excellent location for rentals. Salt Pond has the only good harbor on the western side of Long island. This is a very convenient location. There is a fuel dock, grocery store, lumber yard, restaurants and various other businesses within minutes from this location. Line Bay has paved roads, underground utilities and beautiful landscaping. This is a very exclusive location and the future site of upscale homes with panoramic views of both sides of the island. The lots have elevations from 55 to 105 feet above sea level. Lots are available from $120,000 to $375,000. This is a dreamy place to live and a great opportunity to own a beautiful ocean view lot for a reasonable price.
